About Primer Lessons:
In these one-on-one 30-minute lessons, the instructor guides the student in an exploration of various instruments such as piano, ukulele, percussion, violin, etc. all while the student picks up key musical ideas and fundamental techniques that will make lessons on any individual instrument more efficient and fun.

Why Primer Lessons?
Over the years of teaching we have found that the best age for students to start private music lessons is about 8 years old. Often times students younger than that haven't quite developed the dexterity necessary to learn an instrument, they don't know what instrument they want to learn, and sitting for 30 minutes focusing on one thing can be challenging. When lessons are too challenging for young kids it can discourage them from wanting to learn an instrument at all and that's the last thing we want to do! Lesson books often have "primer" level books to help younger students get introduced to basic musical concepts without overwhelming and discouraging them. Lil' Rocker's Primer Lessons are our version of primer level lessons.

The best thing you can do for younger students is to expose them to different instruments, styles of music, all the while teaching them basic music fundamentals eventually preparing them for private lessons focusing on an instrument of their choosing.
