ABOUT US
MISSION AND HISTORY
Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy started life in the summer of 2005 as The School of Rock. Since then we changed our name and became non-profit so that we could achieve the goals as mandated by our mission statement.
We’ve already given private musical instrument lessons to thousands of kids in the area. We’ve taught hundreds up-and-coming bands how to get their act together and take it on the road. We’ve helped them take it on the road at our highly-attended Rockcitals,,. We’ve taught many of them to stand up and sing beautifully even after so many people in their lives had told them that they couldn’t hit a single note correctly. We’ve given a lot of shy, introverted kids the power and self-esteem to get up in front of large crowds and express themselves. At the same time, we’ve given outgoing, hyperactive kids a positive, safe, and fun way to use their extra energy.
Simply stated, Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy has already given thousands of kids -and adults too- in the Maple Valley and surrounding areas musical experiences and opportunities that did not even exist anywhere just a few years ago. From the comments we receive, the students, their friends and family, and many others in the community seem to appreciate the work we’ve done so far. We hope you’ve taken the opportunity to be entertained by them as well. The end user of our product is you. We hope you enjoy us.
MISSION STATEMENT: Dace's Rock 'n' More Music Academy is here to provide a positive, uplifting, and inclusive educational experience for all members of the community through private, class, and applied music instruction regardless of ability to pay.

Value Statement
AUTHENTICITY, TRANSPARENCY, PERSEVERENCE
In order to serve our community by achieving our mission and fulfilling our vision, Dace’s Rock ‘n’ More Music Academy holds authenticity, transparency, and perseverance as core values. Rock ‘n’ More strives to be a safe, inclusive, and comfortable space for everyone with an emphasis on that of historically marginalized communities such as LGBTQIA2S+ and people of color.
As a queer-women-led non-profit organization, we feel that showing up authentically every day plays an important role in lessening bigotry and providing safety for others to do the same. The role that authenticity plays in music is even greater and more magical.
If someone is going to invest the time and money that it takes to learn a skill like playing an instrument, they’re going to need to trust the process and that’s why we are totally transparent in everything we do. Policies, procedures, financials, plans, etc. It’s all out there for everyone who is interested. Our top priority is the comfort of our students and families. Feeling safe and comfortable is a foundation upon which we believe we can all learn and grow.
Perseverance plays a pivotal role in learning a skill like playing an instrument. It is also pivotal in fostering community. Showing up every day is key, even when it’s not easy. Since Rock ‘n’ More began in 2005, our community has shown up for us every day and we promise to continue to do the same for our community. We’re all here for the same reasons and were all in it together.
